Upper Mustang Trek has an average elevation of 4,023m and is located north of behind the gigantic Annapurna Himalaya range adjoining the plateau of the Tibetan border of Nepal. It is lies under the rain shadow area of the massive Himalayas range, the area receives a small amount of rainfall, making the area dry windswept canyons, unique stratified rock pattern, arid-very similar to the next-door Tibetan plateau, and with one of the very few places on earth which are not spoilt by trekkers. Mustang Trekking leads through an almost tree-less barren landscape, a steep rocky trail up and down the hill with majestic views of Nilgiri, Annapurna, Dhaulagiri and a number of other peaks make your trip unforgettable. This consists of two separate regions: the south region with five villages inhabited by people related to the Managis and the northern region (the ancient kingdom of Lo), where the language, culture, and traditions are almost purely Tibetan. This is in under Restricted Area, so you need a special permit with a minimum of two people in a group.

Upper Mustang Trekking starts at Jomsom after a short scenic flight from the Pokhara. Then, goes through the Annapurna conservation area and enters to Upper Mustang restricted area. You may walk from the Beni also through the World Deepest Gorge at Dana and along the Kaligandaki holy river bank then reach the entry point of upper Mustang called Kagbeni. The trail of Trekking in Mustang follows the upstream through the traditional villages; Chhusang, Chele, Syanbuche, GHami, Dhakmar, and Charang with amazing landscape, mountain scenery, farmland, and monastery. The trail goes via several passes; the highest in the Nyi La (3,990m) and nestle in green oases and reach the fabulous walled capital of Lo Manthang, “home of the Mustang Raja”. You will visit the thousand years of an old monastery, fort, caves, local tribes, and scenic beauties of the different landscapes around the Lo Manthang. Choser cave is most significant about two hours walking distance from Lo Manthang. Here are more than 50 different rooms inside as a testimonial of primitive civilization.
